“Let the children come to me. Don't stop them!
For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”
Luke 18:16

Have you ever wondered how to educate your children in the Christian faith?
Do you wonder how to pass your Anglican tradition on to your children?

Or

Are you a teenager wondering how to get your Christian life to be more meaningful and interesting?

Our Church School programme is designed to help you!

Our Programme

Younger children doing arts and crafts.

Based on the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, our programme is founded on the Lectionary used in the Church. It means that:

–  we cover the life and ministry of Jesus Christ during a 3-year cycle;

–  children and teenagers study the same texts that are read during the Service.

Most of our classes will be around the teachings of Jesus and the early Church. We will use appropriate support material to make the lessons more lively and meaningful. Activities are selected according to the age of participants.

Groups Structured for an Optimal Teaching Environment

Children and teenagers will be split in three groups according to their age and reading skills.

The Young Ones
(4-7 years old)

Since these children don't read yet, we mostly use stories and crafts as teaching aides. Apart from Bible-based teachings, we will also talk about prayer and the Eucharist.

The Tall Ones
7-12 y.o., or grades 2-6

These are our "good readers". At that age, it is time to start digging into the Bible, to look at maps, to analyse the readings and see how they apply into our life and to look at other aspects of the Christian life, such as liturgy and the various Christian ministries.

The Teens
12 + y.o., or high school

The programme will be similar, but with a strong emphasis on developing autonomy. Our objective is to prepare them to be adults and to nurture their faith with their Christian community. To reach this goal, more emphasis will be on "special activities" and on activities selected and organised by the group.

A Typical Schedule

Older children reflecting on the theme of the day during a Church School address.

On a typical Sunday, the service starts with everyone in church. After the opening hymn, and the Church school minute, children and teenagers process to the parish hall, where they gather with their age group.

In each group, there is teaching with reflections and discussions on either:

–  Biblical texts of the day

–  Anglican Liturgies

–  The historical tradition of the Church

–  Prayer and personal commitment to God

–  Various ministries

Then we all get back in Church for the Communion and closing hymn.

Besides that, the entire community joins together on a monthly basis for the Family Inter-generational Eucharist.

Special Activities

Throughout the year, we will organize special activities to provide meaningful hands-on learning. Here is a sample of what we plan:

–  Discussions with guest speakers on topics such as:

–  prayer to help you to go through difficult times

–  prayer ministry (for yourself, your friends, sick people)

–  buildings and their design

–  art and the Church

–  prison ministry;
how to find the good in everyone and how to ask God to keep us safe.

–  Plays or dialogued readings around major festivals such as Christmas and Easter.
